History is all around us. Just look out your window. The land has seen many people and uses over the years. Through the research, publications and community outreach the Plain Township Historical Society does, we can share these stories that make up the fabric of our community.
While we do not have a historic place to visit to see our history, the Plain Township Trustees and Administration in 2024 provided us with a venue at Plain Township Hall. This exhibit space allows us to provide a rotating display that provides windows into our past and is available for viewing during operating hours for Plain Township Hall.
Plain Township has a rich history starting in 1805. Being one of the first 5 governing townships in Stark County. Through our research and publications, we have worked with documenting the history of the Plain Township Volunteer Fire Dept, Ridgewood Neighborhood, Avondale Neighborhood, Glenwood High School, and Middlebranch High School. There is also a drive tour designed for each of the four quarters of Plain Township (NE, NW, SE, SW). We also have an extensive geneaology database available as well that documents Plain Township families.
For those participating in the Passport program, you can get your stamp at any of our free community meetings that take place on the 3rd Monday of the month at 7:00 pm. See our website for a schedule of speakers and meeting location.
